Learning to Lead: Who wants to be a headteacher?
Grant Gillies is the Headteacher of South Morningside Primary School in Edinburgh which was shortlisted for the TES Primary School of the Year Awards. He has been a Principal of British International all through schools in Thailand, Qatar and Romania. He has been a Headteacher in the UK in several settings and has worked for Education Scotland and the General Teaching Council for Scotland.
When Grant returned to the UK he was perplexed at the lack of applicants for headships. With help from colleagues, he set about designing a hands-on programme to plug perceived gaps. In this EduKIT he will explain their work and open up the much-needed debate on what we as advisers can do to support senior leaders in taking that next step.
